Mindmapping Resources

We’re looking into using Mind mapping at work as a means of capturing customer requirements when we’re onsite and then using this mind map to draw up a Technical Requirements Specification. I was asked to write up a list of software as I’d had quite a bit of experience trailing different mind mapping products.

Below is a list of some of the software I found. If any one has any more (preferably free) ideas, please post a comment!

  1. “I like Freemind, but you might also want to look at Thinkature ( http://thinkature.com /).I’ve never thought of using Gliffy this way.”

  2. “Hello! I don’t think this is exactly what you are looking for, but having tried several mindmapping techniques before, and having found them cumbersome, I eventually settled on Thought Manager by Handshigh.com .

It has a great desktop software piece, but also a palm component, that make lists and list management a snap!

I will be writing about them in the coming days on my Blog, but in short it allows you to do lists with ULTRA simple bullet points, multiple levels deep and has the added feature of checkboxes that rules. I use it for all my GTD type list stuff, and – as a matter of fact – for exactly the purpose you are looking for! To capture customer needs for web design! 😉

    I hope this helps!
