2015: A Year In Review And A Look Forward to 2016

Wow, what a year it’s been here on Flipping Heck! Over the past 12 months we’ve covered everything from the Pomodoro Technique to Fitness App Reviews so hopefully there’s something I’ve written about in 2015 that you’ve enjoyed!

On a personal note, this year has been an interesting one for me. In March I decided on a career change which has seen me move into a new field and learn new skills – as well as honing old ones. I must admit that I’ve struggled at times balancing a home life, work life and blogging “career” but I think it’s been worth it.

If there’s one thing that 2015 has taught me is the importance of scheduling. I work a variety of different hours, with overtime that varies from week-to-week, have various responsibilities at home and blog 3 times a week so keeping track of everything and trying to fit it all in can be a bit of a challenge! Everything I have to get done on (or by) a certain date is kept in my Google Calendar but I’m not able to have instant access to this at work so that led me to create the FlipPlan Printable Planner which links with my Google Calendar and lets me print out my appointments in a handy portable format. As the year went on, I decided that items like my Blogging schedule didn’t really belong in my Google Calendar so I decided to move to a paper-based one. This kicked off my obsession with various planners and I researched them all thoroughly including the Erin Condren and Filofax (which I used to use years ago) but I couldn’t justify the cost of the Erin Condren and I found that Filofax a bit limiting in the past. I decided to come up with my own design (which you can buy through my Etsy Store or subscribe to my Newsletter to get access to free printables including some of my calendars.

2016 is the year that I’m really going to get into calendars so expect more posts on paper-based calendars and planning and free printables for you to download.

There’ll also be a slight change to my blogging schedule in 2016. In 2015 I think I only missed one day of my schedule (which happened to be last Monday) and whilst I’ve been happy to stick to this for the past year I think the blog’s due for a little change. I’m busy working on a couple of other projects which I’d like to see get off the ground properly in 2016 and I need a little time to be able to work on these. Because of this I’ll be dropping the number of posts down each week to 2. I’ll still be continuing with my Weekly Round-Up but dropping my regular posts down to 1 a week will allow me to write longer and more informative posts for you, review more apps in depth and hopefully provide you with some great content along the way. I’ll still also continue with sending out my Newsletter on a Friday which contains a round-up of the week’s posts and some exclusive content, plus there’s the monthly wallpaper downloads too which will come out at the end of each month.
