Following my recent posting of a list of Mindmapping Resources, Giveaway of the Day is giving away "Concept Draw".

Usually retailing at $119 you can get it for the next 20 hours or so free!

Download Concept Draw (version 4) free here.

You've just got to love the internet :)

Note that there are some restrictions on use such as it's for personal use only, no tech support and no upgrades.... Well you can't have everything!

Note 2 - I did have trouble downloading from the link I gave above (the website or my connection is very, very slow) so here's the link to the direct download in case you get stuck!

Enjoy!

Project Management

We're looking into using Mind mapping at work as a means of capturing customer requirements when we're onsite and then using this mind map to draw up a Technical Requirements Specification. I was asked to write up a list of software as I'd had quite a bit of experience trailing different mind mapping products.

Below is a list of some of the software I found. If any one has any more (preferably free) ideas, please post a comment!

There's a free Webinar from the "Man" himself on the 10th October at 10am PDT.

In it, he talks about mindmapping (and more specifically MindManager) and "Getting Things Done"

Registration is free - I'm thinking of signing up but I have a nasty feeling that 10am PDT is about 3am in the UK (Can anyone confirm this please?!).

You can find more details here

Google

Google have launched their new "Notebook" which allows you to store images, web clippings and notes.

You need a Google account to register. Get your Google Notebook here.

You can also view more at the "Google Notebook Overview" page.

From Google:

Google Notebook makes web research of all kinds - from planning a vacation to researching a school paper to buying a car - easier and more efficient by enabling you to clip and gather information even while you're browsing the web.

And since Google Notebook lives in your browser, you won't be left with a scattered collection of notes, Word docs, and browser bookmarks to sort through; all your web findings will be gathering into one organized, easy accessible location that you can access from any computer.

Quite a few people have been talking about mindmapping recently (you may have to register for the 43 Folders Google Group) and how it can help with implementation of projects and also GTD. I haven't listened to the Podcast yet, but as it's from The Podcast Network's fantastic Personal Productivity Show I know it's going to be excellent.

Check out the Podcast with Chuck Frey on Innovation Tools.

It's certainly going on the top of my "to listen to" list this weekend.

Meeting up with censored later as it's her last night here before Christmas (cow is going to Dubai but I don't hold that against her... honest!).

So, if no one hears from me in the next 3 days its because:
a) I'm still stuck in Milton Keynes trying to get censored and the families presents
b) I'm still drunk from the goodbye drink with censored
c) I've managed to hide away in censored's suitcase and I'm on my way to Dubai.

I hope it's the latter.

Wish me luck!

Shopping Hack: The Weekly Shopping List

I don't know about you but the weekly trip to the supermarket it a dreadful experience for me. Yesterday I was left with a list and asked to go. No problem except the list only had 3 things on it. Cue me wandering 'round the house for 20 minutes trying to figure out what we needed. There has recently been a conversation on the Analogue GTD group about managing Grocery/Shopping lists and I decided to take some of their advice and organise my shopping habbits.

Each week we have roughly the same thing so it seems stupid to write out a new list each time, invariably missing something off, so I give you the "Weekly Shopping List".

Weekly Shopping List Organiser

The list consists of all of the groceries that I tend to get every week, on the top is a small magnetic clip so I can stick it on the front of the fridge. The idea then is that whenever anyone uses something they either check it off to say it needs replacing or write down the quantity of the item needed.
