Inspiration for the title thanks to Vic & Bob here.
So, the French are still at it, complaining that Tory Tony Blair broke International Olympic Committee regulations by turning up in Singapore three days early. Last week they complained that the video produced by the British team was "inaccurate" as it was filmed entirely in South Africa, with an all South African cast and did not - as was apparently claimed in the video - show atheletes from around the world.
Does that actually matter? The children featured in the video were all of genuine ethnic origin, it was just a budgetary consideration to shoot the video in one location using local children. Does that make it false advertising? Partly I guess but the idea of the videos is to get the ethos of the UK bid across to the IOC, which it did.
I find it irritating that the French can't accept defeat and that the better Host nation, in the end, won. Dragging all of this up now will not help, the IOC is hardly going to turn around and say "Whoops, you're right, we made a cock-up, you can have the 2012 games." Instead, why doesn't Paris, and France, start thinking about securing the 2016 games? Think to the future, not to the past - and stop being sore losers.
