Turn your Hotmail Account into a Windows Live Account

I found an interesting Link over at LifeHack which shows you how to turn your regular Hotmail account into a Windows Live Mail Account with no invite.
Then you can login to Hotmail normally to access your new account.
My first impressions are that there isn't a lot of difference except for the extra storage space and the preview pane and from what I can see you need to select every email in the junk folder to delete them rather than having the handy "Delete all and report" button.
The calendar functionality doesn't seem to have been improved which is a shame - perhaps they're waiting to see what Google comes up with before unvieling the new design?
