So, I've finshed the new Harry Potter novel "The Half Blood Prince". I must say that I found it very slow to start (as a number of reviewers commented in the 'papers over the weekend) but as the story finally began to progress it picked up pace and I found myself in the middle of a real page-turner.
I can't say I was surprised at the turn of events towards the end of the book. Pops and I had discussed what we thought was likely to happen on Saturday night when I was about halfway through and it turns out we were about 90% correct so not too bad then.
So would I recommend it? Yes, I would but it's no where near as good as The previous 2 books in the series; but saying that I reckon the seventh and final book will be a real corker.
As well as HP:HBP I started to read "The Bible Code". This is a non-fiction book that alleges to tell of a code hidden within the Hebrew version of the Bible which predicts future events such as Hitler, The assasination of JFK, Lincoln, Yitzhak Rabin amongst other things. I'm not too sure about this.
The maths behind the code looks pretty solid and has been corroborated by several eminent mathematicians - and the NSA - but I think it's a bit like Nostrodamus, that what is found can be interpreted several ways. I think I'm going to be reserving judgement on this one for a little while longer until I've read the second book but I think I'm going to take some convincing!
