I can't believe how slowly this morning is going. I haven't written anything for the past couple of days as I had the luxury of a couple of days off work and decided to stay away from a computer for a change. Didn't last long though as I did check my email a couple of times.

So, "Puppetry of the penis". Hmmmm. Very interesting, amusing, but I don't think it was worth the cost of the ticket to be honest with you. But saying that, I've not paid for my ticket yet so I can't complain too much!

Don't get me wrong, My Secret Friend and myself thoroughly enjoyed the show but there are only so many things you can do with your "meat and two veg" and I thought 50 minutes was a bit too long. The warm-up act was good though, a lady called Jacky Clune - excellent considering who she had to warm up for! All in all I'd say it was worth the evening out but I wouldn't see it again.

So the rest of the weekend.... Saturday was spent hacking a Eucalyptus tree to pieces and ferrying the bits down to the tip. I think anyone who goes to a tip on a Saturday (excluding me of course) should be banned from driving. I've never seen such carelessly abandoned vehicles, people reversing all over the shop, and general bedlam - never again! I'll start a compost heap instead I think!

Sunday was spent washing and cooking for the boys. I shouldn't have bothered really seeing as I had to be out of the house by 6.30pm but Little Brother was out and Dad had a stinking rotten cold so I thought I'd better supply food for the masses.

After the theatre My Secret Friend and I went to the pub. I was most surprised that she had an alcoholic beverage as she's been off the booze for a month, a most impressive feat in my book, I couldn't do it! Anyway we got fleeced out of our hard earned cash in a card game (I must listen to my Dad and not get involoved in all of this gambling malarkey). We've hatched a plan that myself and DLT (someone else who doesn't use one of the pubs) will infiltrate the pub tomorrow night during the quiz, take the piss a lot and then leave. I only hope it goes better than the other quiz I went to last time. I did have a chat with My Secret Friend and Zack about it and I sorted out my "issues" I had. We've agreed that the team discussed Sunday is the team to play and no-one else will be allowed to but in.

Monday was fun, we had a series of power cuts throughout the day, the last of which started at about 8.30pm - typically just as I put the dinner in the oven. I sent Dad out for a take-away as I'd heard from My Secret Friend who had heard from someone else that the power wouldn't be on for at least two hours. It eventually came back at 10.40pm which was quite amusing as I was in the pub at the time (nicely lit by emergency lights and a big roaring fire) and the fire alarms started going off. It took us about 10 minutes to shut the damn things off - and that was after the landlord had taken them to bits to stop them ringing.

Tuesday however was not so fun. I had a job interview with a company and I have never felt so out of my depth in a situation before. I should have known it was all going to go horribly wrong when my suit trousers fell down due to my dramatic weight loss and I had to hold them up with a safety pin (should have swapped suits I know but I was running late and the safety pin was to hand!) then I couldn't find the place as it's out of the way and I didn't even know that road existed, I was running on petrol fumes as I'd not been able to fill up and on top of that I was so unprepared it wasn't funny. I can't take whole responsibility for the lack of preparedness as the company hadn't supplied a job spec and the recruitment consultant didn't know ASP and HTML from his elbow bless him.

There were so many technical questions thrown at me I didn't know whether I was coming or going and failed to answer half of them in what I'd consider a satisfactory manner; and to make matters worse there was a written test! I had to design this e-card system that would give users a unique URL to pick up the card. It said on the requirements sheet "simple" so I did make it simple - well what else could I do in 30 minutes? And I also had to write code excerpts to back up what I was saying confused They asked me loads of questions about the system I designed but seemed reasonably impressed with one commenting "it was an interesting use of the recordset" which I'm guessing was a good thing. I have to send some back-up material to how what I can do. Shame I can't show them this as proof I can actually code but I don't think it'll be a good idea for me to send a prospective employer a link to a page where I slag off my current employer, even if it's not obvious who the current employer is! I'm also a bit hesitant about pointing them to my personal site as it advertises my services, but saying that they don't know what agreement I have with my current employer... I think I'd best wait until I have the redesign up and running though before I do anything. Still I've found and Requirements Spec I've written so I hope that'll do and I reckon I can send my magazine proposal thing off as well, don't know if that'll be enough.

And now I have another company wanting a phone interview with me tonight - It's tough being in such high demand!

I'd better shut up now as I do have a job to do, as much as I wish I didn't. I've got to get the new designs done today for the new site. I've decided not to put too much effort into it this time as the last time it was wasted and the crapper they are the more Pointy Haired Boss PHB#1 will want to use them....

More rants later no doubt!
